Legislative spotlight

Lift Our Communities Advertise Locally(LOCAL) Act

The "Lift Our Communities Advertise Locally" (LOCAL) Act is a legislative proposal in New York State designed to support small businesses by providing tax credits for advertising expenditures in local media outlets. The initiative aims to stimulate local economies and bolster community journalism by encouraging businesses to invest in local advertising.

" As President of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, I strongly support the LOCAL Act and urge its swift passage. This smart, timely proposal will deliver meaningful relief to small businesses striving to compete for visibility in the New York DMA—the most competitive and expensive media market in the world.

The LOCAL Act will also provide critical support to local media outlets, which are essential to both our democracy and the fabric of our neighborhoods. These trusted community voices are under immense pressure and need our support now more than ever.

I thank Senator Monica Martinez and Assembly Member Jen Lunsford for introducing this important legislation, and I strongly urge every Bronx state legislator to stand behind it. Let’s get this done and make the LOCAL Act law to support our local media and communities."
